Zephyranthes citrina is a bulb variety from Mexico that appears to be hardy enough to overwinter here. It’s tolerant of a wide range of moisture levels but trialling here has shown it to be happy in damp or wet soil provided that the foliage isn’t submerged. Fragrant bright yellow crocus-like flowers form in mid summer above chive-like foliage, the whole plant being about 10-15cm tall. You’ll get a clump of at least 5 bulbs for each plant purchased.
