Sparganium emersum (Unbranched Bur-reed)

Sparganium emersum (Unbranched Bur-reed) is rarely offered but is in fact a widely distributed native plant, with spiky white flowers followed by spiky seed capsules. It’s different to the more commonly offered S erectum (branched bur-reed) in that it prefers to grow submerged in moving water, where it produces ribbon-like leaves that help with oxygenation. It is a vigorous native plant suitable for larger wildlife ponds.
