Calla palustris (Bog arum)

Calla palustris (Bog arum) is a creeping native plant with dark green leaves and small white, arum like flowers followed by bright red berries.

Calla palustris (Bog arum) is a native plant with a creeping habit and heart-shaped leaves supporting white flowers, then producing red berries like its terrestrial counterpart Lords and Ladies. The tuber grows horizontally, rooting as it goes so it’s very useful for pond margins as it rafts out from the sides, breaking up the artificial outline of the pond. It is non-invasive and excellent for smaller wildlife ponds and it prefers acid partly shaded conditions.
