Lychnis flos-cuculi (Ragged robin) is a well known native plant of fields and meadows, the usually slightly tatty rosette of leaves sends up clusters of starry pink deeply cut flowers. Keep cutting back faded stems and it will reward you with more flowers, it also seeds about merrily. It’s unfussy about position and soil. None of the ragged robins are true marginal plants, but they are all happy growing in wet soil provided that the foliage isn’t submerged.
