Cardamine raphanifolia (Broad leaved cuckoo flower)

Cardamine raphanifolia (Broad leaved cuckoo flower) is an edible American water cress with more flower power, needs cool conditions in running water to do best.

Cardamine raphanifolia (Broad leaved cuckoo flower) grows and looks extremely like water cress and you can eat it in just the same way, but has the benefit of spikes of large lavender pink flowers in late spring/early summer. It does best, like water cress, in flowing water and is perfect in a waterfall or filtration system. If planted in a pot it will soon escape as it grows. When we send this we have to butcher it quite badly to remove most of the leaves, or it won’t establish reliable – it will soon grow new ones if planted in a cool wet spot.
