Lycopus europaeus (Gypsywort) is a native plant, nettle-like in appearance with whorls of white flowers held tight to the stems. It is attractive but perhaps a bit vigorous for small ponds. The tiny new fragile white shoots appear improbably from a rotten looking stem base from the previous year; this happens quite late, so it’s not available in early season.
