Caltha palustris alba (White marsh marigold) is much less vigorous than the yellow flowered ones, this variety is best planted with wet or damp feet but the growing point above the water, in other words treat it as a damp loving plant rather than a true marginal. Flowers very early Feb/Mar and often again at the end of summer.
