Carex panicea (Carnation grass) is a short native sedge with bluish grey foliage reminiscent of carnations, and attractive black seed heads.

Carex panicea (Carnation grass) is a small native sedge with almost blue foliage when young, maturing to grey-green. The seed heads are black, giving a pleasing contrast; it’s strong but not invasive and ideal for small wildlife ponds. Best grown in wet mud just above water level.
