Primula denticulata is a drumstick Primula rather than a candelabra as the flowers are all held within a spherical head on a single stem. These are often the first of all plants to flower in the water garden, often in late February. Flowers are typically lilac but can range from deep purple to white. These Primulas are not suitable for standing in water within the pond, but can cope with quite wet ground conditions provided that the crown and leaves are not submerged. Their ideal position would be light shade and moist soil.
