Primula pulverulenta (Mealy primrose) is perhaps the easiest of all the candelabra primulas to grow and multiply, this variety seeds about merrily and has bright carmine pink flowers in abundance. Even though the colour is strong it doesn’t seem to look out of place. This variety can cope with quite wet conditions as long as the crown and leaves are not submerged;if the foliage starts going yellow then it’s too wet!
My plants were featured on Gardeners’ World 5th April 2019.
