Iris pseudacorus (Yellow Flag Iris) is our native yellow flag iris, so called because it grows at shallow points in rivers and marshes, so flagging the safe places to cross. It’s quite vigorous and propagates readily from seed, so is ideal for larger ponds but often too vigorous for small ones. It is pretty much duck proof and tolerates a fair degree of shade too, though it will not flower so well in shade.
