Primula japonica Millers Crimson is a well known cultivar with lovely crimson flowers and broad leaves – strains do vary considerably. All P japonica varieties hybridise easily with each other to give a range of colours from crimson through pink to white. These Primulas are not suitable for standing in water within the pond, but can cope with quite wet ground conditions provided that the crown and leaves are not submerged. Their ideal position would be light shade and moist soil.
