Mimulus guttatus (Yellow monkey flower)

Mimulus guttatus (Yellow monkey flower) is a very pretty but rampant plant with fleshy stems, mid green leaves and cheerful bright yellow flowers. Spreads rapidly by seed and lax rooting stems but if confined to a pot in water and kept away from its neighbours it can be easily managed. It can be a bit of a pest in a natural earth pond or a damp border though, so be cautious.
