Ranunculus lingua (Greater spearwort)

Ranunculus lingua (Greater spearwort) is a vigorous running plant with yellow buttercup flowers.

Ranunculus lingua (Greater spearwort) is a bigger version of the lesser one R flammula, but can be rather invasive, especially in shallow water over deep mud. Probably a bit too vigorous for small ponds but good for large ponds and lakes. It’s very lax and floppy once dug up and washed, but will stand erect after it has rooted. Flowers are yellow and like an open buttercup.
