Callitriche (Starwort) is a prolific native plant of shallow water and grows most actively in the cooler months, making it very valuable to early spawning amphibians, especially newts, which fold up their eggs in the soft leaves. Will root into the bottom or pots or will equally happily grow in loose patches. Available Autumn and Spring. Goes dormant in summer.
