Caltha palustris palustris (Giant marsh marigold) was previously known as C. polypetala. Being an American species it is of course bigger and better! Flowers and foliage are two or three times the size of our native species and the whole plant makes a lovely hummock of big heart shaped leaves. New plants will form at the nodes where the flowering stems touch the water.
