Iris x robusta Dark Aura

Iris x robusta Dark Aura is difficult to distinguish from I.v. Gerald Darby, and basically does the same job. Dark purple new growth remains at the base as the leaf grows, and dark purple flowers are produced atop dark purple wiry stems. This is one of the best and most reliable water iris to grow, it’s a hybrid of Iris versicolor, so doesn’t produce viable seed. It’s also getting hard to find the true variety, many plants sold in the trade are seed produced and not up to scratch.
