Mimulus ringens (Lavender musk) is much less vigorous than its yellow cousin M luteus and rarely propagates from seed. Wrongly listed as native by some suppliers, this is a North American species. It has many tubular lavender flowers in late summer on rather weak stems so is best planted close to something woodier to give it support. It does have a fairly short season so is best used as a filler rather than a stand-alone specimen plant.
